Five months into the new year already, wow. Excited to announce from humble beginnings to the tip of stardom is a roller coaster of emotions and we riding it well.
Having just signed our first major client and more in the pipeline. I cannot help thinking about staying positive, when facing almost certain bankruptcy. Allabout city guides is not a one hit wonder. We have literally gone to the ends of the earth for our clients and will continue to do so.
A week ago I had the opportunity to attend Marketing Indaba Cape Town. This was an brilliant opportunity to look into the faces of South Africa’s marketing decision makers. I was honestly not that impressed. Brilliant ideas, great concepts and strong sense of purpose, but not blown away. Its like the advertising industry regurgitates the same mediums to there clients all the time. So I dare to ask, Do the advertising companies have no idea on what there clients want or they to afraid to take the pitch to the max. I am a firm believer in “if its not broke” , but our oath as advertisers/marketers are to push the envelope. Sell your clients on that pitch that could just cost you the account Or if it works you THE HERO. With all the bells and whistles and the lady.
Building a brand on a shoe string budget is quite frankly almost impossible. But our amazing team of never say die is doing a fantastic job. Before we would never pitch big brands, but rather stay with the safe nickel and dime clients. What this space.
In closing, what did we change. We changed the way we viewed ourselves and our business. We learnt that giving our clients what makes them happy is great, but what drives us is more important.
